Valsalyam : A Tribute to Grandmother – JD Design Awards 2023
Valsalyam is designed by Parvathy R, student of BSc in Fashion Design & Garment Management Academy of design and Management under the guidance of JD Institute Of Fashion Technology Cochin, for JD Design Awards 2023.Valsalyam is a concept in which the designer takes the collection on a journey similar to this- Growing up, one of the numerous stories imparted by my beloved grandma that molded her into a woman that she’s today was a vital part of her upbringing. Valsalyam, a women’s Indian-wear line for the Spring Summer 2024 season, is inspired by my grandma and her simplicity. This collection reflects the essence of her timeless beauty by combining traditional silhouettes, delicate embellishments, and a dash of modern flair. Each outfit is created to honor her legacy by representing her distinct personality and cultural background, both of which determine my identity.
