International Men’s Day Celebrations with Mr. Eugene

International Men’s Day is a global holiday celebrated annually on November 19 to recognise and celebrate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of men. “A good man would prefer to be defeated than to defeat injustice by evil means”. The objectives of celebrating an International Men’s Day are set out in ‘All the Six Pillars of International Men’s Day‘. “Try not to become a man of success, but rather try to become a man of value.”

International Men’s Day is an occasion to celebrate the achievements of men and their contributions, in particular to the nation, union, society, community, family, marriage, and childcare. The broader and ultimate aim of International Men’s Day is to promote basic humanitarian values, as well as awareness towards men’s issues. But know this. Men are not from Mars. Women are not from Venus. Do not fall for categories. Everyone is everything. Every ingredient inside a star is inside you, and every personality that ever existed competes in the theatre of your mind for the main role.

JD Institute Cochin celebrating International Men’s Day with alumnus Mr. Eugene

With respect to International Men’s Day, JD Institute Cochin organised a workshop for the students pursuing their Diploma in Fashion Designing the June and November, Mr. Eugene, an alumnus of JD Institute Cochin, 2016 batch who specializes in menswear designer and is entrepreneur with a Menswear Design Boutique ‘Wings’. He shared his experience and journey through a brief with regards to client-oriented designs. Throughout the session, Mr. Eugene kept the students active with his interactions as the workshop while keeping the occasion of International Men’s Day.

Six pillars of International Men’s Day are to promote positive male role models; not just movie stars and sports men but every day, working class men who are living decent, honest lives. To celebrate men’s positive contributions to society, community, family, marriage, childcare, and to the environment in International Men’s Day. To focus on men’s health and wellbeing; social, emotional, physical and spiritual in International Men’s Day. To highlight discrimination against men; in areas of social services, social attitudes and expectations, and law in International Men’s Day. To improve gender relations and promote gender equality on International Men’s Day. To create a safer, better world; where people can be safe and grow to reach their full potential on International Men’s Day. A man must at times be hard as nails: willing to face up to the truth about himself, But he must also be tender. No weapon will breach the armour of a woman’s resentment like tenderness. Being male is a matter of birth. Being a man is a matter of age. But being a gentleman is a matter of choice.

International Men’s Day was well celebrated by JD Institute Cochin by bringing to students the real life experience of their own seniors where they can not only interact, but also learn well from them. The Fashion Courses offered at JD Institute Cochin are structured to not only bring to students the traditional knowledge in the field but also the practical industrial knowledge that is mandatory to start their career.
