Pride Mark Fabric Store visit by DFD students of ADM
On the 17th of February 2023, Academy of design and management, guided by Jd institute of fashion technology cochin, organized a visit to Pride Mark Fabric store in Cochin, where students from the November batch of Diploma in Fashion Technology had visited a fabric store. In accordance with the curriculum, they learned about different types of fabrics in the module:Textile Appreciation under the mentorship of Ms Sridevi Vijayan Faculty for Fashion department.The fabric store housed a diverse range of fabrics under one roof, making it an excellent opportunity for the student to learn about various fabrics, as well as their end uses and customer demands.
Students had an in-store learning experience where they observed the interior of the store and learned how to identify different types of fabrics based on composition, weave, and so on. In addition to understanding how to select various fabrics for the creation of garments or other related products, and how they are specialized in Brides and bridesmaids fabrics , What is the difference between dyed and undyed goods, and what should be noted when dyeing? I’ve seen a wide range of fabrics, weaves, and printed textiles, particularly block printed fabrics. The student was able to explore and feel various textures with his hands. They came across a diverse range of fabrics, including Georgettes, Chiffons, a variety of net fabrics, Linen, Raw Silk, Printed Cotton, Rayon’s, and so on. The store official was very cooperative and allowed students to feel and touch fabrics and explained everything in detail about the day to day activities in the store, customer demands, and clarified all the doubts raised by the student.
