Visual Merchandising Display
Students from the April 2022 batch of the Diploma in Fashion Design organized a visual merchandising display for their module under the guidance of Fashion faculty Ms Shruthi R, and the jury was presided over by Ms Manju -HOD at JD campus -A Block. The display was set up in the Boho and Gothic styles, and the students tried their hardest to put forth their best effort by coming up with creative designs, color schemes, and themes based on what they wanted to sell.
As we are all aware, Visual Merchandising, in contrast, covers the aesthetic and creative elements of the complete corporate environment; it also majorly plays an important role in the fashion retail industry .
The process of display design includes picking the product, the display, the environment, manipulating the creative aspects, and assessing the finished displays.Typically, a display has four to six seconds to grab a customer’s attention, pique their interest, and close the sale.
When it comes to business sales, visual merchandising is crucial and Visual Merchandising must be done more efficiently and techniques must be followed to achieve the best results like
- While displaying products, keep your target audience in mind.
- Displays should be free of clutter and chaos.
- Pay Focus On Window Display
- Use the Proper Tools.
The display was put up by two groups in the theme of BOHO and GOTHIC styles, where they focused on color schemes, background, props, and so on, wherein one group used everything black for their theme and created a display that incorporated black shades, black long puffed sleeve dress accessorized with silver and black metal ornaments, long leather jacket to emphasize the gothic style more, and the props used here were in the combinations of glass with wine and more.where another group used the tints and shades of brown and tan with minimal props and the garment used here was a cotton sleeveless jumpsuit stylised with a leather brown belt, shoes and leather sling bag and to enhance the theme they used props using wooden cart, wooden jewelry box and dry interior plants to give an aesthetic look for the Boho style .
When combined with passion, creativity has no limits and yields incredible achievements. As a result, the display activity was carried out by Academy Of Design & Management Cochin under the Guidance of JD Institute Of Fashion Technology Cochin. The students found this activity engaging because they gained knowledge and felt like they were moving toward their objective of becoming successful fashion designers.
