Visual Merchandising – Store Visits to Oberon Mall by Diploma in Fashion Design Students
Academy of Design and Management (ADM) under the guidance of JD institute of Fashion technology Cochin organized Store visits to Oberon Mall at Edapally under the mentorship of Ms Shruthi R Faculty of fashion department .
On January 10th 2023, Students of Diploma in Fashion design April 2022 batch were taken to a variety of retailers, including Boho Baby, Basics, Doc Mark, Easy Buy, Oudh Mahal, and Payless Footwear at oberon Mall .where they were exposed to a variety of products to learn about presentation techniques. This also helped students understand the significance of color theories for promotional displays since it’s the season of sales, and students can also have a better understanding of how the visual displays are arranged to appeal to customers since these brands are of different categories.With the help of this industrial visit, the students gained a solid understanding of retail space layout, space assignment, product grouping, color, lighting, window display, and aspects of visual communication, including presenting techniques.
Students were briefed by visual merchandisers in the stores on the brand as well as the skill of designing, developing, and carrying out merchandising in a way that attracts potential customers.
Visual merchandising plays an important role in marketing and retailing of a Merchandise under the consideration of any categories.And with this kind of industrial exposure Students from various batches in Fashion department with academic modules such as Visual Merchandising for MSc, BSc, and Diploma students gained extensive knowledge about the various key aspects of visual displays like check on the prime locations, eye level and hand level arrangements, customer Entrance, window displays, store layouts, customer space ,store interior, store decorations , signages and props .
For a better educational experience, ADM believes in setting up such hands-on learning experiences. by the decades-old JD Institute’s direction. While learning about the merchandise during the store tour, students had the chance to converse with the managers, visual merchandisers, and other staff members. This was a useful opportunity for learning beyond the classroom.
